When using a different aspect ratio, there'll be some cropping involved. You can control this using the "Crop" (Image Generation) or "Reposition" (Carousel Maker) controls.
When you enter crop or reposition mode, you can pinch to zoom or drag your image into a new crop.
The app won't let you crop your image smaller than the canvas size, but you can scale your image much larger. Bear in mind that when scaling your image, it might reduce the quality slightly depending on the size of your original image.
Cropping or repositioning your image is useful to help reframe your image into a nice composition; also, it can be useful to frame your image around any text overlay.
